Carlson Partners Represents Boyum Barenscheer in 43,346-Square-Foot Headquarters Consolidation in St. Paul

Carlson Partners represents Boyum Barenscheer in combining its Bloomington and Arden Hills offices into a modern headquarters, expanding its footprint by more than 6,000 square feet to support future growth.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Sept. 30, 2026) — Carlson Partners announced today that its advisors, Tim Olsen, SIOR, partner, and Sami Cowger, SIOR, executive director, represented Boyum Barenscheer, a Twin Cities accounting and advisory firm, in consolidating its two Minnesota offices into a new headquarters at Midway Innovation Center II, 2344 Energy Park Drive in St. Paul. Boyum Barenscheer previously operated from an office at 3050 Metro Drive in Bloomington and a second office at 1210 W. County Road E in Arden Hills.

The new Class A headquarters spans 43,346 square feet, an increase of more than 6,000 square feet over the firm’s combined previous footprint and gives Boyum Barenscheer a central location to bring its Bloomington and Arden Hills offices together under one roof. The firm will occupy two of the building’s three floors.

The landlord, CSM, was represented by Eric Rapp, SIOR of Transwestern and Eric Batiza, SIOR of JLL.

Boyum Barenscheer’s new office will be a modern, hybrid workplace with a mix of private offices, workstations, hoteling areas and phone booths, along with conference and training rooms. Rather than committing to a traditional open-office concept or returning entirely to private offices, the firm is designing the space to give employees options depending on how they work best.

The buildout team includes HGA as architect and Fluid Interiors as furniture provider. The buildout is expected to be complete by Sept. 1, 2027, with Boyum Barenscheer fully operational in its new St. Paul headquarters at that time. Carlson Partners represented Boyum Barenscheer throughout the entire real estate process, from site selection through lease negotiations, and continues to advise the firm through design, buildout and move-in.

“Boyum Barenscheer’s move reflects a trend we’re seeing across the market: firms consolidating multiple locations into one high-quality, centrally located headquarters that works better for both their people and their clients,” said Tim Olsen, SIOR, partner at Carlson Partners. “This transaction gave us the opportunity to align the firm’s real estate strategy with its long-term growth plans and secure a space that will support the firm for years to come.”

“As we’ve grown into one of the Twin Cities’ top accounting firms, our people have grown with us. This headquarters gives our team a workplace that matches the caliber of the work we do every day,” said Charles Metzig, managing partner at Boyum Barenscheer. “We wanted an office that creates energy and collaboration while still giving our people the flexibility to work the way that works best for them, and Midway Innovation Center lets us do exactly that.”
